“Heart of Experian” Has a BIG Heart

In early 2007, Sunshine Shoe Box Foundation (SSBF) was contacted by Marryn Santucci, Community Involvement & Public Relations for *Experian.  She heard about SSBF and wanted to investigate the possibility of **The Heart of Experian sponsoring a volunteer project for SSBF.  After much discussion and planning The Heart of Experian offered to have a box assembly day that would be hosted at the Experian headquarters in Costa Mesa.   On March 27, 2007 we had the honor of being the guest and focus of the day, Sunshine Shoe Box Assembly Day.

In addition to the scheduled assembly day, Heart of Experian made a generous donation of $1,700.00 to help with the needed supplies to continue our mission.

*Experian is a global leader in providing value-added information solutions to organizations and consumers. Experian provides information, analytics, decision-making solutions and processing services.

**The Heart of Experian, the company’s dedicated community outreach program, supports Experian’s business strategy while bringing employees’ personal values to life. Experian’s outreach is focused on four core community promises: enriching education, assisting children, serving as an advocate for various health issues and supporting a variety of human services.  http://www.experian.com/corporate/community_involvement.html

The goal was to assembly 400 boxes so that we would have enough on hand for delivery to the shelters and organizations whenever they requested them and at a moments notice for any emergency.  The event was scheduled from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  The morning began with greetings and introductions of the volunteers and continental breakfast for all.

The fifteen volunteers soon learned that there was a lot of preparation that need to be done before they could begin to fill the boxes.  First the shoe boxes needed to be assembled (we purchase them new and packaged) and then many of the items that are included in the boxes needed to be unpackaged and sorted.    The final step was to carefully fill the boxes with SUNSHINE.  Our “sunshine” includes small fun things (age appropriate books, games & toys) and personal hygiene necessities for youth and teens boxes and baby necessities for the baby box. . Our goal is to brighten up a child’s life and give them a warm feeling, even if it is just for the moment.

By 11:30 (ahead of schedule) we were finished with the assembly of the 400 boxes and it was time to load up the precious cargo.  With time, effort and patience some of the volunteers managed to fit the mountain of precious cargo into my minivan.  As I rolled down the freeway completely surrounded (I mean completely surrounded) by Sunshine Shoe Boxes I felt so thankful to Heart of Experian and so proud and fulfilled with what these boxes represented.  Each box is hope and help for a child that is in crisis.

THANK YOU HEART OF EXPERIAN!
