What is Sunshine Shoe Box? We are in the News, CLICK below. http://www.all4kids.org/efocus.php?FileName=efocus-spring2010-focus
Sunshine Shoe Box is a charitable organization founded in January 2006 and built on a strong foundation of love and caring. We specifically focus on “children in crisis” who are in situations out of their control. We provide these children with a shoe box of SUNSHINE containing small fun things and in some cases personal hygiene necessities. Our goal is to brighten up a child’s life and give them a warm feeling, even if it is just for the moment. Our Mission
Our mission is to help children through troublesome times. We strive to put smiles on children’s faces by providing them a small deviation from any crisis that they may be experiencing. Through our box of sunshine, we hope that we may be able give a ray of hope and make a little difference in that child’s life. The Box Our boxes are small and simple but they bring hope and caring to a child's heart Our Boxes are made of simple cardboard but they come from big, strong trees Our Boxes are filled with simple pleasures and necessities but they will provide a much needed moment of care Our mission may seem very simple but it is huge to the children in need Sunshine Shoe Box will warm a child's heart but if only for a moment --DAFP

Benefit Dinner Fundraiser On June 24, 2006 we had our first benefit fundraiser. Obviously, the primary reason for the benefit dinner was to raise money for the foundation but it was also an opportunity to spread some of the knowledge we have learned from working with the domestic violence shelters. We organized a dinner and invited friends and co-students of Kayla and James. We served a pasta dinner and charged $7.00 per plate. This wasn't one of those celebrity fundraiser where you pay 100's or 1,000's of dollars for your plate but nonetheless every dollar was appreciated and will be put it to good use in the foundation. No deep pockets here:-) Christina Satki from Su Casa Shelter came to the benefit dinner and made a presentation on the subject of domestic violence and showed a short video, offered some staggering statistics and gave some valuable information and handouts specifically on teen domestic violence. She did a wonderful job and no doubt opened the eyes of some of these attending teens on the subject. She also presented us with a Certificate of Appreciation for the donation of 60 Sunshine Shoe Boxes that we made to the Su Casa Shelter. We are very proud of the success of this event (our first). We had about 45 attendees at the dinner and raised $375.00 that will go towards helping us continue our work. We would like to thank all of the attendees, those that made donations and a special thanks to Christina for her time and compassion for what she does. We look forward to having more events like this so we can grow and expand what we do for children in crisis.

This certificate of appreciation has the handprints of a child at the Su Casa Shelter. Since the children are in hiding and are unable to meet donors or have pictures taken, this is their way of showing appreciation.
